The Destroyer is a warship classification in the UNSC Navy. Fast, maneuverable, and designed for long-endurance, destroyers were intended to escort larger vessels, such as the Marathon- and Halcyon-class cruisers. Contents [hide] 1 Specifications 2 Class History 3 Trivia 4 Sources Specifications
Although vessels of this classification are only seven meters longer than a UNSC Frigate, they are almost double the mass. Unlike most ships in the fleet, destroyers carry no single-ship (Longsword or Shortsword) fighters, their large mass comes rather from the one and a half to two meters of Titanium A armor battle plate covering the ship. Dr. Catherine Halsey once stated that Destroyers are essentially the same as Frigates except for this additional armor. The Destroyer's armament comes in the form of two Magnetic Accelerator Cannons, twenty-six oversized Archer Missile pods, and three Shiva-class Nuclear Missiles. For defense against starfighters, the Destroyer carries eight point-defense autocannons. Class History
These warships were used to put down the Eridanus Rebels during Operation: TREBUCHET, with the loss of several vessels. The destroyer Heracles was the command ship of Battlegroup D during the disastrous first contact with the Covenant. In 2497, the Gorgon-class was introduced into service, what was then a Heavy Destroyer class with a single MAC. Later ship classed would include two MAC's as they became standard armament on UNSC warships. During the Human-Covenant War, Destroyers were looked down upon by many in the Navy. The Destroyer class was initially considered too ineffective against the superior Covenant ships, but in reality, it could receive and dish out a considerable amount of damage for its size, and in groups could prove a match for the larger CCS-class Battlecruisers used by the Covenant. Senior Naval Commanders estimated that, on average, seven UNSC Destroyers were generally a match for four Covenant Frigates. As a result, many were destroyed in the war. Jacob Keyes commanded a destroyer, the UNSC Iroquois during a short skirmish over Sigma Octanus IV, where he devised the Keyes Loop as an act of desperation. The Iroquois managed to single-handedly destroy two Covenant Frigates and a Covenant Destroyer.

he UNSC Frigate is a starship classification in the UNSC Navy. Although it significantly lacks the amount of armor, armament, and firepower compared to its larger cousin, the UNSC Destroyer, the Frigate is smaller and thus more maneuverable. It is cheaper to produce, allowing greater numbers to be fielded against the Covenant threat. With current human technology, the UNSC Frigates are barely a match for even the smallest of Covenant starships. It is outrun even by smaller Covenant ships, its armor is susceptible to enemy pulse lasers and plasma torpedos, and it is outfitted with substandard weaponry. Only en masse does the UNSC Frigate give any United Nations Space Command fleet element an advantage in the war against the genocidal Covenant. Needless to say, even a Covenant Frigate is more than a match for its UNSC counterpart. Layout
The bridge of the Frigate is located in the uppermost part of the ship, in the section at the stern-most tip of the MAC gun shaft (in the case of the only seen version of the UNSC frigate, there is another layout variation similar in appearance to the Halcyon-class Cruiser, UNSC Pillar of Autumn). The Commanding Officer's chair is located behind the two primary consoles within the bridge. There are numerous other consoles located at the sides of the room. There are four bridge stations: Navigation, Operations, Weapons, and Communications. UNSC Frigates also possess 12 HEV Bays, located in the rear of the ship, which facilitates the deployment of ODSTs. UNSC Frigates (specifically the UNSC Forward Unto Dawn, UNSC In Amber Clad and UNSC Aegis Fate) are capable of hovering in an atmosphere and possibly landing. They also have either a garage or cargo bay in their rear section which is capable of extending out of the ship's ventral side to deploy vehicles or cargo directly to the ground. Frigates are seen carrying 3 Pelican Dropships in the rear section. Specifications
Dimensions A typical Frigate appears to be around 478 meters (1568 ft) long, 151 meters (498 ft) wide and 112 meters (396 ft) tall. It is one of the smallest warships fielded by the UNSC. Propulsion Like other Human ships, the UNSC frigate is powered by thermonuclear fusion reactors which use deuterium (a stable hydrogen isotope) as fuel. The engines almost certainly use the energy obtained from this process to heat some form of reaction propellant which is expelled out of rear-facing exhausts to generate thrust. There are four exhausts visible on frigates; two large and two small. For translight voyages, the Frigate carries a Shaw-Fujikawa Translight Engine. Although they cannot be seen, it can be safely assumed that frigates also possess multiple maneuvering thrusters to adjust a vessel's attitude in three dimensions. Finally, frigates have several times been observed to hover in an atmosphere. It is possible that they vector thrust downward in order to accomplish this feat, but no downward-pointing exhaust nozzles are visible. It is more likely that they employ some form of Covenant-derived antigravity mechanism, or perhaps electrostatic or magnetic levitation. Armament A typical UNSC Frigate carriers the following armament: 1 MAC Cannon which is able to fire one round per charge. The MAC takes up between one and two thirds of a frigate's total length. 3 Shiva Nuclear Missiles are the ships' heavy ordnance. 40 Archer Missile Pods which would carry around thirty missiles per pod, adding up to a total of 1200 missiles. 50mm point defense guns which would function as the last line of defense against incoming missiles or single ships. 5 Defensive Railgun Turrets Crew No precise figures are available regarding the crew of a Frigate, but it is likely relatively small, (maybe a few hundred would be stationed in a Frigate). Like larger ships, a detachment of Marines and sometimes ODSTs would be present onboard. The crew number includes deck crews as well as the command crew, Marines, ODST's, Longsword and Pelican Pilots and technical personnel. The number of personnel a single frigate is capable of housing numbers at least in the thousands. In 2552 Sergeant Major Avery Johnson was supposedly able to single-handedly control the frigate Forward Unto Dawn to help out John-117 and Arbiter Thel Vadam on the newly rebuilt Halo, though this may have been a kind of auto-pilot function. Naturally, an AI can monitor and regulate all critical functions single-handedly. Superstructure
The frigate from the side. The armor of a Frigate is relatively poor compared to that of its larger cousins and counterparts such as the UNSC Destroyer with just 60cm of battle plate. However, due to it being relatively lightweight, the Frigate's strength lies instead in maneuverability and speed. In addition, over the decades that the war has gone on, Frigates needed refits and they could have been given more armor overtime. The Forward Unto Dawn and the In Amber Clad look very different from some angles but are still classified as Frigates. The Frigate's relatively wide design is supported by structural support ribs, allowing it to perform orbital incursions . Squadrons Based on observations made in Halo 3 (And Battle Group D at Harvest), It may be assumed that frigates tend to operate in groups of 3. This would allow one ship to fire it's MAC while the other is charging, and still leaving the third vessel to provide close support. Also, based off of the troop compliment of each frigate, Each squadron would carry one regiment of Marines and one battalion of ODST's, a suitable ground compliment for a three ship task force, and a comparable structure used by marine units today. Since the UNSC individually numbers Marine Regiments and ODST Battalions, it can be assumed these units are given some form of autonomy to be deployed apart from any larger 'parent' unit, thus being suitable for such a posting Known Frigates

The Stealth Cruiser was a Starship in the UNSC fleet . Stealth Cruisers are the largest Prowler-class vessels built, the length of a UNSC Destroyer. There is only one known ship of the class in existence, the UNSC Point of No Return, due primarily to the sheer expense of manufacturing the stealth ablative coating that rendered it invisible from radar and other sensors and limited visual camouflage, and the problems incurred maintaining this ablative layer. Although, while the Point of No Return was in service, at Station Delphi Kurt-051, along with two of his fellow Spartan-II's saw the construction cradle that was being used to construct a second ship of the same size class as Point of No Return. Summary
The UNSC Point of No Return was constructed in parts and then assembled in deep space. It was completely radar-invisible and when the baffled engines ran below 30%, the craft was dark as interstellar space. This ship was the wartime field command and control platform for the UNSC Naval Intelligence units. Very few people have ever seen the ship and even less have actually been aboard this vessel. Interior The inside of the ship was just as mysterious, with stainless-steel walls brushed to a white reflective shield, as was most of the ship's insides. The floors oddly enough weren't the same white color as the walls, being described as metal grates. It also contained a Faraday Cage, completely sealed off from the rest of the ship, known as "the Cage", where meetings of an extremely classified nature could be conducted in absolute secrecy. It is unknown whether, if there are other ships of the class, they possess similar chambers.

The Mako-class was also renowned for being the smallest ship in the UNSC fleet mounted with a liable, usable Slipspace drive. However this particular Corvette was discharged from the UNSC arsenal due to the high maintenance level required so that the ship would stay operational. These Corvettes were comprised of many highly sensitive components which ultimately compromised its effectiveness. Since they are Corvettes, they most likely carry lighter ship-to-ship weapons and/or troops, and unlikely to deploy its own fighter support. It is said that Corvettes have a modest hangar bay and only one SKT-13 (basically a larger version of the Bumblebee Lifeboat used to ferry UNSC material and personnel to and from various locations or ships) can fit inside. Operational Service
Several of such corvettes were at the rebel asteroid base over Eridanus Secundus, used by the rebels as part of their improvised fleet. Others were at the disastrous Battle of Reach and the ongoing Battle of Earth. Ships of the Line

"A dozen Covenant superior battleships against a single Halcyon-class Cruiser. Given those odds, I'm content with three... make that four kills." —Cortana during the Battle of Installation 04 The Halcyon-class Cruiser (Pronounced 'hal-see-on') (known as Human Attack Ship class C-II by the Covenant) was a United Nations Space Command cruiser starship classification designed by Dr. Robert McLees in 2510, with a Hull Classification Symbol of SCS. Their service lives were short due to a unique hull design that was costly both to construct and to maintain, lack of speed and poor armament, and concerns about their tactical viability. They were subsequently replaced by the Marathon-class Cruiser. The word "Halcyon" is a Greek word defined as "calm" or "peaceful". This is perhaps an indication as to how poorly Halcyon-class cruisers are generally armed. At 1.17 (a reference to the number 117) kilometers in length and one-third the tonnage of the succeeding Marathon-class Cruiser, the Halcyons were the smallest of vessels to be designated and structured as cruisers. Compared to later ships, the original Halcyons were sorely underpowered and under gunned: their Mark II fusion engines provided but a tenth of the output of modern reactors and their armament consisted of a mere six Archer Missile pods and a single MAC gun. According to Cortana they were somewhat of a joke within the fleet. The most noteworthy design feature was a series of internal cross bracings and honeycombs that made the ships surprisingly resistant to battle damage; ships of the class were able to remain operational despite sustaining breaches to all compartments and losing 90% of their armor. The durability of the design was demonstrated by the UNSC Pillar of Autumn when she survived a crash-landing on Alpha Halo. When the Human-Covenant War erupted in 2525 a number of Halcyon cruisers were reactivated from storage and refitted. Layout
Halcyon-class cruisers are composed of five hexagonal and octagonal sections mounted onto each other. The bridge is slung underneath one of the forward sections and eight docking bays are distributed throughout the ship. There are also slots for twelve lifepods on the ships' undersides. Lastly, the MAC cannon is visible as a bump on the bow. The speculation that the gun is somewhere else on the ship is proved false in the cut scene at the beginning of the mission, The Maw, where the camera circles the ship, showing the obvious barrel in the 'bump'.
A vertical cross-section of a Halcyon-class ship, showing the honeycombed internal layout. Corridors on the Halcyon-class were segmented by several retractable containment bulkheads. In the event of an emergency, these bulkheads could be closed and affected sections sealed from the remainder of the ship. A potential application of this was during a hostile boarding action, whereas the atmosphere in the sealed sections could be vented via commands from the bridge, asphyxiating enemy troops. Armories were located throughout the ship, holding a selection of small arms and their requisite ammunition. Eight docking bays allowed a number of Pelican dropships, Longsword Interceptors, Warthogs and Scorpion Tanks to be carried.
An overlay of the Pillar of Autumn and its MAC. A number of service corridors ran the length of the ship. Workers go in and out of the corridors, as seen in Halo: Combat Evolved. Although normally restricted to personnel, they could be accessed by lifts in main engineering or connecting passageways from the docking bays. If necessary, these expansive corridors could permit passage to Warthogs and some sections were large enough to accept Pelicans. The corridors served a secondary purpose of lessening the ship's considerable mass, thereby increasing acceleration. Specifications
Armament Known elements of the Halcyon-classes' original armament consisted of the following; One MAC Cannon Six Archer Missile Pods which were far below standards at the time. Each pod would have contained several individual missiles. Four Shiva Nuclear Warheads Numerous 50mm point defense guns With the outbreak of the Human-Covenant War, Halcyon-class ships were put through extensive refits. At least one ship, the Pillar of Autumn, had the following armament: One upgraded MAC Cannon 300 Archer Missile Pods which were arranged in thirty columns and ten rows. Each pod contained 26 individual devices, equaling 7800 missiles. Four Shiva Nuclear Warheads. One of these missiles was disguised as a Longsword fighter, which could be remote controlled. Forty 50mm MLA Auto-cannons with overlapping fields of fire for point defense against single ships. Powerplant Sublight thrust is provided by nuclear fusion reactions which are channeled to six adjacent exhausts at the ship's exterior stern. There are six exhausts visible, two large and four small. These engines are likely powered by deuterium-deuterium reactions. The main engine core consists of several underpowered Mark II reactors which provided 10% of modern engine output. The class was also equipped with a standard and typical Slipspace drive for translight speeds. On the refit ships, the reactor system was one of the aspects which was heavily retrofitted. These warships replaced the aging Halcyon-class Cruisers. These behemoths, ranking in at 1,200 meters, are slightly under three times the length of a UNSC frigate. They are also known for their heavy armor; they can survive multiple plasma impacts, being able to sustain far greater damage than any UNSC Frigate or UNSC Destroyer. Due to their size, durability and firepower (2 Magnetic Accelerator Cannon as well as dozens of oversized Archer missile pods), these massive vessels are commanded by UNSC Admirals and primarily serve as command/capital ships. Use
Due to their diminishing numbers and the onslaught of the genocidal Covenant, further numbers of these great cruisers have been reassigned to the defense of the Inner Colonies. They were considered extremely valuable in terms of fire power and armor, and it was seen to by the UNSC admiralty that they were only used in the most dire and occasional of circumstances. Marathons were present at the Battle of Sigma Octanus IV and the Battle of Reach. Twelve saw action at the Battle of Earth under Fleet Admiral Harper and another was part of Battle Group Stalingrad during the Battle of Onyx. UNSC Marathon-Class Cruisers. Trivia
In Halo: The Fall of Reach, the Marathon classification is erroneously labeled as a Carrier. The name Marathon could possibly be from the Battle of Marathon, fought in 490 BC where heavily outnumbered Athenians defeated an army of Persians who were trying to conquer Greece. This battle was also simulated by Wellsley, Antonio Silva's AI, while he was unoccupied in Halo: The Flood, this battle also gave its name to Bungie's Marathon series. The name of this classification of ships is yet another reference to Bungie's previous series, Marathon. They bear a resemblance to the older Halcyon-class cruisers. In Halo: The Fall of Reach, it mentions that the Leviathan was one of twenty UNSC cruisers left in the Fleet, which were being slowly pulled back to protect the Inner Colonies. It should be noted however, that well over twenty cruisers can be seen orbiting Earth in Halo 2. It is thought by some that the Marathon has three MAC's. However, this is highly unlikely, as the Marathon isn't large enough to mount three MAC's and there aren't any visible "bumps" on the ship that would indicate more than two MACs. In Halo 2 on Cairo Station, it shows Marathons continuously coming by, and a tactical display on the bridge showed eight cruisers, along with 67 frigates in the battle group near the Cairo's battle cluster. This may lead to the assumption that there may be dozens of Marathons in the UNSC Home Fleet, due to the Marathon's effectiveness and Earth's high-priority nature.

The Phoenix-class Colony Ship is a ship classification within the United Nations Space Command. The Phoenix-class starship, among others, are often modified into warships such as the UNSC Spirit of Fire, which is a modified Phoenix converted for wartime-use towards the newly encountered Covenant alien alliance. The refitted ships carry vehicles, troops, and supplies as support for ground forces. It also carries the resources necessary to build bases. The ship's bridge. The Phoenix-class is 2.5 km long, making it one of the largest known UNSC ships in the organization's naval history. The Phoenix-class ships were designed to transport thousands of colonists from Earth, or one of the other Inner Colonies, as well as terraforming equipment to alter the existing atmosphere and/or biosphere to become compatible with human habitation. Once the terraforming is completed, the colonists settle the planet. On at least one instance, a colony ship was decommissioned to aid in the development of a colony. On Harvest, the Skidbladnir's fusion reactor was used to power the first settlement, Utgard and its data processing storage housing the Agricultural Operations AI, Mack was also utilized. The ship's AI, Loki, became the Planetary Security Intelligence, sharing a core with Mack, covertly monitoring the colony for trouble for the UNSC. Whether this was a common fate for colony ships during the colonization of other worlds is unknown. Once converted, a Phoenix-class ship can become an extremely effective troop transport and orbital support ship, carrying thousands of Marines, significant supplies and equipment, and, if equipped with a Magnetic Accelerator Cannon during conversion, is able to attack ground targets from orbit in support of ground operations. It can also use Pelican and Albatross dropships and Pods to deploy ground forces and establish bases of operation. It is even able to participate in atmosphere to a degree. However, despite the conversion of the Phoenix-class from a Colony transport ship to a warship, it is still underpowered as far as most warships go; the super-structure of the Spirit of Fire is vulnerable to light pulse laser fire, and despite the addition of armor plating, the outer edges of the hull were ripped away when the ship nearly collided with a Covenant Destroyer of about the same size. The Magnetic Accelerator Cannon can fire multiple times consecutively, but each round is less powerful than the cannons used by other UNSC warships. Ships of the line

he UNSC Supercarrier is a heavy warship sub-classification (of carrier) within the United Nations Space Command Navy. There were only a few constructed, and the only one mentioned is the UNSC Trafalgar, which was destroyed during the Battle of Reach. These ships were made for direct confrontation with Covenant capital ships, and were one of the only UNSC ships effective in this role. Speculation
Although almost nothing is known about the UNSC Supercarrier, it is reasonable to think that this warship classification would have been one of the most powerful group of ships made by the UNSC known to date. Its designation as a Supercarrier most definitely makes it more powerful than the standard UNSC Carrier, in addition of having 10 meters of Titanium-A armor plating makes it much more resilient than a Carrier. No further mentions have been made about the remaining carriers or about construction of new ones. Ships Of The Line
